Adult Education

Adult Education provides classes such as Torah study, Coffee Schmooze groups which discuss current events, Hebrew and B'nai Mitzvah classes.
B'nai Mitzvah

The B'nai Mitzvah committee helps move families through the process of educational and social planning leading up to the B'nai Mitzvah celebration.

The committee strives to acquire décor items for the building which reflect our heritage and are within the philosophy of the congregation.
Board of Trustees (2nd Tues)

Board of Trustees consists of 13 members who manage the affairs of the synagogue. Seven of the Trustees are officers (President, two Vice Presidents, Treasurer, Financial and Recording Secretary). The immediate past president is also on the board, as well as 9 members who are elected for terms of one, two or three years. The Board meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month. Members of the Board are nominated and then elected at the general membership meeting in the Spring. All members are eligible for nomination.
Building and Grounds

The Building and Grounds Committee is responsible for overseeing the overall operation of the facilities. The committee determines the needs for improvements in the building or surrounding property, obtains bids for services and ensures completion of the projects.
Education

Education Committee oversees the general operations of the Hebrew School. Committee members work with the principal to troubleshoot, suggest and authorize new programs, monitor and change the curriculum, and address a variety of Hebrew School issues faced by a growing congregation.

The By-laws committee is responsible for reviewing and interpreting the temple by-laws which are voted on by the membership.

Fundraising Committee is responsible for the planning, marketing, and execution of all fund raising events for the synagogue.
Gift Shop

Our Judaica Gift Shop features: Seder plates, matzoh boxes and plates, matzoh and afikomen covers, kiddush cups, haggadahs and audio tapes, Passover cookbooks, mezzuzot, yarmulkes, jewelry, books, tallisim, etc. It is open Sundays 10 - 11 am when Sunday school is open and proceeds help our congregation.
Hospitality

Hospitality is responsible for overseeing Onegs after each Friday night service, arranging hosts to sponsor an Oneg in honor of mitzvahs or special events and purchasing supplies. Hospitality committee also provides desserts for community service Onegs. Volunteers to sponsor and serve Onegs are always welcomed.
Life Cycle

Life Cycle Committee was created to support and aid members of our community in times of joy and crisis by: calling upon members when needed to help with Shiva calls or to be a part of a minyan; cooking for congregants who are ill or undergoing emergencies; visiting hospitalized members; trying to provide transportation to those in need. Life Cycle offers a rewarding experience to members and those called upon to assist.
Long Range Planning

Long Range Planning Committee supports the Board of Trustees as well as other committees in examining current and future trends to support the decision making process and aid in the setting of the overall direction for the synagogue. Meetings are usually held on an as-needed basis, but members may be asked to support ad hoc committees as well.

Membership Committee serves to welcome new and prospective members, develop and updates a membership packets, and host special events such as the honoree shabbat service, member BBQ, and family bingo nights, which provide existing members with a sense of community.
Men's Club

Men's Club meets about ten times a year. Its goal is to promote social, recreational, and educational activities. Men's Club also engages in special projects for fund raising. New members are welcomed and encourage.
Newsletter

Newsletter Committee produces the monthly newsletter which keeps members apprised of synagogue events, services, and other important information. Assistance in gathering material, producing and proofreading is welcomed.
Nursery School

Nursery School Committee serves as the advisory board to KinderCapers. As such, members meet regularly with the Head Teacher and Administrator to ensure that the high standards of the program are being met and to make policy decisions governing the operation of the preschool. In addition, the committee has final responsibility for hiring of staff and is the liaison between the school and the temple.

Publicity Committee brings synagogue events to the awareness of the community via news releases to area newspapers and area calendars in Montgomery Township. Help is needed from time to time get the word out about special events. Photographs taken at events are always welcome.

Rabbi Liaison Committee acts as a liaison between the rabbi and the community.
Religion

The Religion Committee assists the rabbi in planning and conducting the religious functions of the synagogue, serves as a liaison between the rabbi and the congregation on religious matters and provides appropriate assistance to the congregation. The committee addresses issues such as: arranging for the sukkah to be put up and taken down, caring for the Torah and other religious articles, making sure the shul facilities are prepared for services, arranging High Holiday sacks for children and preparing the Yom Kippur break fast.
Sisterhood

Sisterhood is a group of women with the following goals: to do good works for the community, to support the synagogue, and to enrich the lives of its member women. Sisterhood sponsors events of interest to its members such as cooking demonstrations and theater trips.
Technology - Computer and Networking

The Computer and Networking Technology committee is charged with maintaining and as necessary, upgrading, the computer and network infrastructure within the synagogue.
Technology - Internet and Marketing

The Internet and Marketing Technology committee is responsible for maintaining and upgrading the synagogue's Web site technology, as well as supporting e-mail and other marketing software used by Congregation Kehilat Shalom.
Tikkun Olam
Michael Galkin
Tikkun Olam Committee sponsors a monthly food collection for the Somerset Food Bank, and coordinates member participation in the annual Crop Walk held each fall. Members occasionally volunteer at the Trenton Soup Kitchen. Members have also participated in environmental clean-ups and Habitat for Humanity teams. In addition, special collections of food, clothing, and furniture, have been organized for victims of hurricanes, floods, etc.
Tree of Life and Memorial Plaques

Tree of Life Committee is responsible for ordering plaques, having them engraved and installed, and general maintenance of the Tree of Life plaques in the synagogue lobby. In addition, the committee maintains the yahrzeit plaques on the interior wall of the sanctuary, seeing to it that on or before the first day of the new Hebrew month, plaques which commemorate decedents who died within that month are moved to the lighted section of the board.
Youth Activities

Youth Activities functions as a liaison between the regional office of Young Judea and the synagogue, serving as a clearing ground and funding source for internally organized youth-oriented service and social activities such as our annual shul-in.
